The Stickle Tarn Bail
Upon checking out of our first week’s accommodation, we drove a whole 15 minutes to a National Trust car park beneath Stickle Tarn in the Langdale Pikes.
Our aim was a 4.5 mile loop up to Stickle Tarn, up Pavey Arc & hit a few peaks before descending down the side of Dungeon Ghyll Force waterfalls. But, as we reached the tarn, the winds picked up & we beat a hasty retreat down the opposite side of the stream.
On our way down we passed a lady who declared that she was going for a swim in the tarn, to whom I wished good luck!
Taking the route to the right, we witnessed a guy standing on a stone wall moments before he rode it like a surfer as it collapsed beneath his feet (see photo of the aftermath).
After a picturesque lunch looking down the valley, we headed North to our accommodation for the second week…
